Mentoplasty
Mentoplasty or chin surgery is the ideal procedure to improve the structure of the chin; this surgery is often complemented with rhinoplasty. With mentoplasty is to improve the positioning or projection of the chin, or in some cases reduce the excess prominence in this area, attending to certain aesthetic and harmonious limits of the face.
What is mentoplasty?
The mentoplasty is the new surgical plus of beauty that consists in performing a projection or an adequate reduction of the chin to provide a facial harmonization and get closer to achieve a symmetry and ideal proportion of the angles of the face making it more noticeable beauty.
The chin operation can be performed in three different ways:
The first option is a mentoplasty with implant and consists of placing a silicone implant that will be adapted to the size of the patient, it can be placed with a small incision made inside the mouth or under the chin. For this minimally invasive surgery, local anesthesia, local anesthesia combined with sedation or general anesthesia can be used. The type of anesthesia to be used is a decision that can be made by the patient with the help of the doctor, this surgery can be performed at the same time as other procedures.
The second way is also known as sliding chin osteotomy, this method is more invasive since it consists of cutting part of the bone to modify it to obtain the chin projection that the patient requires to improve the symmetry and harmony of his face, it is important to mention that this procedure does not leave scars since the incision is small and goes inside the mouth, above the lower gum line; it is only performed under general anesthesia.
The third surgical option is common but little known, it is called facial lipostructure, this method allows us to get a chin projection to achieve facial harmonization with a natural material, easy to obtain and that is produced by our own body. This material is fat that can be obtained from different areas of our body and is placed through special cannulas in the chin area.
